The ZKM | Karlsruhe is a venue that combines exhibitions, numerous events, a media library and two scientific research institutions – all under a single roof. By presenting art and its production by guest artists on site, the ZKM is still the only cultural institution in the world that concerns itself so thoroughly with complex connections between production and research, exhibitions and performances, mediation and dissemination, preservation and restoration.
Featuring 25 exhibitions a year and about 150 events – including performances involving sound, images and dancing as well as concerts and international conferences and symposia – the ZKM offers a dynamic annual panorama of artistic and social developments.
The historic hall of this former ammunitions factory has a unique ambience in its exhibition space and in numerous high-quality function rooms with a total capacity of up to 800 persons.
