Schwarzwaldstrand House, on the outskirts of Bad Herrenalb, reflects the owner’s love of wood and water and his instincts of a trained boat builder. Built from solid wood in accordance with high ecological standards, it stands on a roughly triangular plot bounded on the long side by the River Alb. The 50 metre long riverbank was carefully re-modelled and integrated into the garden design. The building itself comprises three L-shaped apartments connected by a central, multi-functional area which serves as the communicative heart of the complex and offers plenty of space for meetings.
Large, south-facing windows ensure all three apartments are flooded with natural light and have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Each apartment has its own access to the garden and the riverside beach. The shared lobby has a long table and is the building’s communication hub – ideal for seminars and celebrations. All three apartments have 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with 2 single beds. There is also a sofa bed for 2 people in the living room. Cosy and communicative but with space to retreat for peace and quiet – Schwarzwaldstrand House is the ideal venue for seminars or family celebrations and offers accommodation for up to 18 people!
In the winter, a wood-burning stove in every apartment crackles and provides extra warmth and security (in addition to the pleasant underfloor heating). Guests can cook in the comfortable, Italian-style kitchen with gas hob. And, for a final romantic touch, the garden fireplace on the riverside beach is the perfect spot to gather and relax at the end of the day.
Bad Herrenalb has a spa with hot springs in the Kurpark and the town’s outdoor pool, surrounded by greenery, is only 100 metres away.
