Filmtheater Schauburg

The history of the SCHAUBURG as a cinema began with what, at first glance, appeared to be an unremarkable advertisement placed by the Apollo Varietés theatre in the Karlsruher Zeitung newspaper on 1 September 1906. The concluding item on the evening's programme is described as follows: "strong America, bio-tableau, living photography". Karlsruhe's oldest cinema lives on in its traditional home, which has recently been modernised with the very latest technology. In 2006, all three screens were equipped with modern digital projectors, new sound systems and refurbished seating. Experience a traditional film theatre with the most up-to-date projection and sound technology in the south of Karlsruhe.

We offer a selection of current cinema releases, original language versions of films, classic films, daily children's films and highlights from the film industry. In the summer months, we exchange the red carpet for the green lawns of Schloss Gottesau, which host popular outdoor film screenings. And our "70mm Festival" is sure to set the hearts of cinema enthusiasts racing.

Our screens are also available for corporate events. Presentations can be projected via a laptop directly onto the cinema screen and discussed in the room via a microphone.

Our large reception hall offers space for a get-together while our kitchen provides all the culinary creature comforts you require.
